Workflows
Workflows Overview
Workflow
A workflow is a process used to test on one or more samples
Workflow ID
A workflow ID is a value used to track a specific workflow in the system
- This ID is unique and cannot be reused
Workflow Step
A workflow step is a specific stage in a workflow process
Step | Process | Purpose | |
---|---|---|---|
Accession | Sample IDs are scanned into the system and loaded to a grid as a batch | Unpacking the samples from transport containers | |
Plate | Batch is transferred to plate using layout created in accession step | Preparation | |
Elution | Batch is transferred to another plate | Extraction and washing | |
PCR | The plate map is exported from the system to a Diagnostic Device to perform the PCR test. | Amplification | |
Results Upload | Upload the run file from the diagnostic device | Interpret value thresholds | |
Results Review | Lab technicians approve and confirm results | Send test results |
Workflow Type
Workflow type is a variation of a process that is represented by a workflow
- Often defined by the test type being performed
Example:
Applied Biosystems TaqPath COVID-19 Combo Kit
Workflow Mode
Workflow mode is a specific method for a workflow process
- Standard
- Sample Pooling
Plate
A plate is a grid shaped container that can be used to hold samples
A plate:
- Can hold samples assigned to it
- Can have 96 wells or 384 wells
- Has a sample layout that can be exported to a device
Well Position
Well position represents the coordinates of a sample on a plate that can be occupied by a sample
Axis | Example | |
---|---|---|
X axis | A, B, C | |
Y axis | 1, 2, 3 |
