Send a Test Result to a Patient

Sending From Orders Details

Test Results can be sent from Order Details interface

Once you've entered test results from the Order Details view, you can send test result notifications to patients using their provided contact information.

To send a test result notification to a patient:

Navigate to the Orders page
Find the Order containing the sample/test result you want to send
Select the row containing the sample/test you want to send
Click the Send button

Sending multiple results at a time

You can also send multiple results at a time by selecting multiple rows and then clicking the send button.

Sending From Workflows

Test Results can also be sent from the Workflows interface

RT-PCR Workflows

Workflows are the recommended method for sending RT-PCR test results.

After being approved, RT-PCR test results are automatically recorded based on their sample ID.

If the test results are associated with patients that provided an email address, these patients are automatically sent an email notification.

This email contains a link to login to the patient portal and view their test result report.

Optional: Automatic ELR

For both methods, sending test results to patients can configured to automatically trigger real-time ELR data transfer (Electronic Lab Reporting)

This allows test result data to be sent to the designated entity for regulatory compliance.

This information is sent using the reporting protocol defined by the entity receiving the ELR, usually a state health department or public health organization.
